Designing a house is a very personal experience, for both you, your family and for the designer. Designing a bathroom is sometimes more solid than designing any other room in the house, mainly because it has to be many things to more than one person. Do you love where you live and want to stay put, but your home is looking a bit harsh around the edges? With so many things to consider design, logistics, budget and building restrictions, to name a few, the superior way. It’s been full steam ahead at the Di Henshall Interior Design studio with an office and production expansion, fresh staff and a laughter photo shoot. Good news is that I won BIA Commercial Interior Design 2016 for the building, so that makes me feel very glad to know that some other people think it is a fine building too. Our projects are so different it is outstanding to think that all these very different jobs come out of such a small small studio in Noosaville, but we are quiet busy on properties in Fresh Zealand, a large commercial project in country Victoria, which will remain for at least a year or two, medical practices, some outstanding houses and more major renovations of apartments. I was in Paris for a scanty days, where I represented the Design Institute of Australia, as the Australian delegate, at an international design symposium in Paris. We have been busy on a particular, large house for a few months now and I would mistrust anyone will recognize it when we’ve finished. Can the Kitchen be opened up to create more light, space and ventilation? Do the bedrooms feel drab and bathrooms outdated? Redecorating can provide more flexibility on the budget as the design work can be prepared in stages with a sympathetic deadline. Lighting is the MOST urgent thing in a bedroom. Look for table lamps that have adjustable levels of light output, a brilliant solution. Consider wall lights or position ceiling lights round the perimeter of the room for general bedroom lighting instead of the ordinary central ceiling light. Make it Homey Your outdoor living space should get as much consideration as your indoor living space. Remember they should always be adjustable to permit you to move them at will. Cushions are a great way of adding bright and vibrant colors to your outdoor areas. So when entertaining spend some time styling the space prior guests turn up sweep the area, light the candles, store the pot plants and fluff up the cushions. Do you ever sit and wonder how lucky we are to have a climate that allows us to spend a important piece of the year outdoors? Back in the day (before mine!) One of the most lasting and attractive products used in kitchens is porcelain sheet. Di Henshall Interior Design has designed many outdoor kitchen living spaces, all of which were designed specifically for each clients’ needs. Concealed lighting in the fresh ceiling and island bench cabinetry make this kitchen a beautiful, peaceful space in the evening and a showstopper at all times.
